When I had Mahayla, I wanted to make my own baby food. I quickly found that there were not a lot of resources available to learn how and the methods I found were time consuming or contradictory to the guidelines of the AAP (American Academy of Pediatrics). Of course, all of this was compounded by my "First-time" parent syndrome and lack of sleep. Now, with baby #2 on the way (and the bad economy) I have a new found determination to learn and commit to making my own baby food.
I want to take a minute to tell everyone about a wonderful product offered by Fresh Baby, the So Easy Baby Food Kit. Fresh Baby has put together a time, life, and money saving kit to help us learn how to make our own baby food! The system is designed for quick, easy, and healthy preparation of baby food in 30 minutes per week. The kit includes a cookbook, 2 freezer trays, "How To" instructional DVD, and a nutrition card. The only thing not included is a food processor...but they are relatively cheap to purchase from your local large chain store.I love the cookbook! The cookbook follows the AAP guidelines for infant nutrition. It offers recipes, prep strategies for daycare, restaurants, and travel.
Fresh Baby also offers a unique line of feeding products to support breastfeeding parents and introducing solid foods. Most of their products are made in the USA and all of their plastic products are free of BP-A, pthalates, and PVC. I highly recommend giving Fresh Baby a try. It offers a simple and hassle free alternative to jarred or processed baby food and the best part is that you can save a lot of money even if your using organic foods.
